Random Conversations that take place in my class on a daily basis......
Example 1:
Me: Guys…lets review these graphing problems… They are all in slope-intercept form. So just graph them
Student to a Friend: Awww, man I forgot how to do these….. How do you put them in slope intercept form?
Friend: They are already in slope intercept form.
1st Student: I’ll ask Mr. Ham just to make sure.
Me: No need to ask me , they are already in slope intercept form.
3rd kid from across the room: Hey Mr. ham, are these all in slope intercept form?
Example 2:
Student Julie: Mr Ham, when you solve a system by graphing, do you have to use substitution?
Me: Nope, just graph them on the graph paper
Julie: I know, but after you graph do I have to solve by using Substitution?
Me: No, for that problem ALL you do is graph, once you graph you are finished.
Julie: But I thought we had to use Substitution.
Me: Ok, use substitution, then.
Julie: But I don’t know how.....
Me: Give me a minute while I take a walk. Then I left.
Example 3:
Mr. Ham: Guys, we have about 5 minutes left in class, here is your Homework. 1-20 on WB page 93.
Response: Is that the homework?
I say: Yes, and I wrote it on the board.
Response: Do we do all? Or just the evens?
I said: Its 1-20.
Response: Hey Mr. Ham, is this classwork or homework?
I said: Nevermind….do whatever you want to do... all I am saying is that I wrote your homework on the board.

This is just pitiful for High School Math......
I had a student ask me what is 100 divided by 4? Before I had a chance to answer, he said oh wait I got it, its 20. I was like no, try again. He was like no, seriously it is. I was like no, try again. He got a little upset and was trying to prove his point. So I reached in my pocket and said, I have 4 quarters.....when you at them up you get 100. So 100 divided by 25 gives you 4. He became absolutely OUTRAGED when he counted them....cursed me out, then walked out. My thoughts.....only 1 period left.
